Steve Jobs was a man who we all regard as one of the legends of our time. His death on October 5 left a big impact on the technological world, regardless of the massive legacy that he left behind in the form of technological giants, Apple. Even though everyone knows Jobs as the CEO of Apple, and of course as the co-founder (along with Wozniak), there are a lot of people who know nothing about his past and how he came to such a level.
Steve Jobs was born in 1955 in San Francisco. His real parents are unknown, and he was raised by Paul and Clara Jobs. Jobs attended his basic education in California, and dropped out of Reed College after one semester. However, the first important step that he took was in 1971, when he set up Apple Computer along with his partner, Steve Wozniak. Wozniak was the person who invented the Apple I, the first ever computer to come out of Apple.
At that time, Steve had to sell off his Volkswagen in order to provide the funding for the startup of the company, and at the starting; the premises of Apple were based in Steve’s garage. As the company began to expand, Steve Jobs knew that they needed an experienced CEO, for which they hired John Sculley. Later, Sculley fired Jobs from the company, which led to the founding of NeXT Computer, which started off with an initial budget of $7 million.
NeXT was later acquired by Apple in 1997, and hence bought Steve back to the company he had helped built. After the CEO of Apple was fired in 1997, Jobs became the company’s chief. From then on, Jobs singlehandedly turned the fortunes of Apple around, as he helped in the building the Mac OS X platform, which was a redesigned version of NeXT STEP. The first major product to be launched under Jobs’ supervision was the iPod, which was received with massive success all over the globe.
However, his fame not only comes from the iPod, but also from the iPhone, iPad and the iMac and Macbooks. All of these are massively famous products that are best sellers in their respective fields. And, all of these products were built under Jobs’ tenure, meaning that he is the reason for their success. Even though Jobs’ salary was a mere $1million per year, his total net worth lies at $8.3 billion.
