How to resolve Office Activation problems

Computer Info Sign
Every software vendor will protect their software against piracy.
One of the most popular protection is detecting for hardware changes.

Microsoft Office activation

Office will prompt for reactivating when you:
  1. Replace the computer mainboard,
  2. Move Hard drive from one computer to another(with hardware differences)
  3. Use Acronis Universal Restore or Ghost to restore previously created Windows Image to restore on a computer with different hardware

If Windows detects any hardware change it will lock itself and will ask for activation or reactivation in some case every attempt to activate a genuinely licensed microsoft office will fail. If it fails to activate over the internet it will offer to activate over the phone , but no need to try activating as this won't work as well. We have spent 1 hour on the phone with Microsoft and finally the fix is here .

From "Control Panel" Enable - "Show Hidden Files and folders" Disable "Hide Protected Operating System Files" Navigate to: Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data and delete all files within this folder Close and reopen Microsoft word or any other office product and this time it will complete the activation with success.

If everything else fails check if your computer date and time is correct as this is another possible problem to prevent the activation process.
